Who We Are

I’m Lily Bakratsa, a landscape architect with a background in architecture and practical horticulture. This multidisciplinary foundation allows me to approach every project holistically, considering not only the design of a space, but also its ecology, planting, function and long-term relationship with the people who use it.

Over the past decade, I have worked on projects ranging from private gardens and public spaces to landscape masterplans, collaborating with private clients, architects and multidisciplinary teams in the UK and Greece. My work combines thoughtful design with a strong interest in ecology, encouraging landscapes where plants play an active role in supporting biodiversity, wellbeing and a sense of place.

Alongside professional practice, I have been teaching Garden Design at Capel Manor College in Regent’s Park, London, since 2018, where I enjoy helping the next generation of designers develop their creative, technical and practical skills.

Beyond design, I work on publications, research, illustration and creative projects that explore the relationship between people and landscapes. I also collaborate with writers, artists and cultural organisations to communicate landscape ideas in engaging and accessible ways.

Throughout my career, I have been recognised for both my design and my contribution to the profession, including winning the RHS Green Plan It competition and serving as a Landscape Ambassador and member of the Landscape Institute’s Editorial Board. These experiences continue to shape the work and values of It’s All Green To Me.

I am a horticulturist specialising in plant nutrition and soil. Coming from a family of plant traders and horticulturists, I grew up among plants, helping my father and grandfather in their glasshouse and nursery, carrying out all sorts of tasks, from overseeing all aspects of plant breeding, selection, planting and care to the commercial aspects of the trade and managing a small team of seven people.

My work is related to gardens and everything about them: I regularly collaborate with garden designers, landscape architects and gardeners to source the best quality plants at the best price possible. I also work as a consultant, helping people identify and remedy the health problems that plants or soil might have in their gardens.

Joining forces with Lily enables us to visualise and bring to life any design project whose focus is ecology and nature. You’ll usually find me in a plant nursery or glasshouse: at the weekend you may also see me co-leading the practical sessions of our garden workshops.

I am a highly experienced architect and landscape architect specialising in the design and implementation of green infrastructure across both public and private sectors. I hold a Diploma in Architecture from the University of Thessaly and a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from the Agricultural University of Athens.

Over the years, I have collaborated with a wide range of institutions, architectural studios, and organisations—including the Hellenic Mediterranean University—contributing to planting design studies and sustainable landscape strategies for urban and rural environments. My portfolio includes large-scale urban and environmental projects such as metro stations, public park redevelopments, and ecological interventions in the urban fabric.

My areas of expertise include irrigation planning, bioclimatic design, green roofs, and landscape architecture for hotel and tourism facilities. In addition to design, I have led the coordination of landscape projects, ensuring the long-term sustainability and functional integrity of each proposal.

Driven by a passion for the seamless integration of architecture and natural landscapes, I am dedicated to creating environmentally responsible, visually compelling spaces that enhance quality of life and reflect the unique identity of each location.
